So I´ve finally found a good description of what exactly I´m doing here:
Program Description: Students will serve as social entrepreneurial consultants for businesses and non-profits in southern Guatemala, advising organizations on improving outcomes and processes within each organization. Students will spend the first ten days in an orientation program in Antigua and then travel in groups throughout southern Guatemala rotating locations every five days while consulting with local entrepreneurs.
Getting ready to head out in the field in Xela and Solala on Monday for the next two weels. This weekend we had a national conference with over forty entrepreneurs from all over Guatemala to discuss all the projects, new ideas, and insight for our ventures this summer. It was really interesting to talk with all of these Guatemaltecos that have become so involved in our NGO here and started projects of their own. When we head out in the “field” soon we will be working directly with these social entrepreneurs, mainly women, and helping them to distribute products that people in rural areas don’t have access to normally, like reading glasses and water filters. We will also be offering consulting services to rural businesses and doing needs analysis surveys. I’m so excited to get out there and get some real hands-on experience!!
